Pete is a Data Scientist in Global Fishing Watch’s Research Program and joined the team with a background in remote sensing and aquatic ecology. Prior to joining Global Fishing Watch, Pete worked in both the private and public sector, most recently as a Remote Sensing Analyst for the US Forest Service. He holds a BA in Global Studies from Warren Wilson College and an MS in Systems Ecology from the University of Montana where he was a researcher for the Valett Aquatic Ecosystem Ecology Lab. Through his work at Global Fishing Watch, Pete is able to combine his interests in ecology, remote sensing, and programming to help advance ocean sustainability. When away from the computer, Pete enjoys exploring the mountains and rivers of Montana while biking, running, and fly fishing.
