1. Introduction and base terms
1.1 The following terms and conditions {“Terms”} apply to every program offered by The Future School {“TFS”}: Summer Study Abroad {“SSA”}, Cultural Study Tours {“CST”}, Workshops and Masterclasses {“W&M”}, Service Learning Program {“SLP”} and Specialization Courses {“SC”}. Including both ours and programs under partnership agreements.
1.2 These Terms address the following denominations and meanings: “Application” means an individual request for a place on a Program, submitted by using a delivered, printable or online “Application Form” provided by TFS or affiliated institutions using their own requirements and methods of Application; The “Brochure” is a digital or paper document that summarizes description, purpose and general schedule for TFS Programs, equivalently “Program Pages” listed as “Adventures”; “Programs” refers to a service provided by TFS to individuals classified in terms and kind as:
“Summer Study Abroad” {“SSA”} designed and provided for 4 to 6 weeks to occur during the summer break on north hemisphere or between the months of June to August, OR, for the summer break on the south hemisphere or between the months of December and February. SSA are developed for students in a specific topic or world issue to interact with the local culture, learning their traditions or current challenges from on-site instructors. Students complete a specific project, or a plan for effective advocacy; Cultural Study Tours {“CST”} are short-term journeys between one to two weeks, or within March to August that delve into a specific topic of cultural interest; Workshops and Masterclasses {“W&M”} are courses based on direct instruction, some with hands-on training and practice, instructed by an experienced lecturer whether they are beginners or advanced; Service Learning Programs {“SLP”} are offered to groups or individuals where participants or students can apply and practice their knowledge and service vocation within rural communities with specific needs for sustainable development; Specialization Courses {“SC”} are designed to expand labor competencies as a complement to each student’s knowledge and labors related with technical, social, cultural or international contexts.
“Partners” means the institutions that collaborate with an specific Program as a studio, location host or operate with TFS to guarantee priority access to their members to TFS Programs;
“Affiliated” Academic Institutions (ie. Universities, Colleges, High Schools or Education Centers, with which have signed agreements with TFS to award credits to their students or others that fulfill their requirements such as tuition and course compliance;
“Credits” are recognition of successful course completion provided by an Affiliated, or Host University, or the student’s Institution of enrollment that can be added to the student’s transcript.
“Program costs” are the total operational expenses of TFS that are detailed on each Program Page, payable by the applicant to participate in a specific program Program of application.The program costs do not include Host or Home Institution fees/tuition, that might be required to get Credits and Transcripts, or to continue the enrollment of each student within their Home Institution;
“Host Institution” are institutions in affiliation or partnership with TFS within a program, that provide one of the following assets: facilities access, research exchange, instructors, credits or transcripts;
“Home Institutions” refers to the college, university, center or school in which the applicant/participant is enrolled and undertakes their studies;
“Provider” refers to the role of TFS in its relation with affiliated institutions as service providers for the study abroad program experience.
“Services” refers to the contractual provisions of TFS to the participant, also referred as “the client”, for included services and provisions described on each program’s Details Page, and specific Application page linked to the Program’s Page or Brochure.
“ONLINE” refers to Programs that students can access by internet on their computers. These programs can be accessed from any location and provide skills that prepare students for future participation in TFS Programs.
1.3 TFS requires travel health insurance for accidents, diseases, and any other health related situations. TFS aims to provide safe teaching and living environments, and licensed transportation providers for our organized excursions. There may be “Events Outside Our Control” such as:
a. strikes, lock-outs or actions by third parties
b. commotion, riots, hostile attacks, fire, explosions, storm, floods, earthquake, adverse weather, or natural disasters.
c. pandemic, epidemics resulting in restrictions imposed by a government or local authority that might interrupt, delay or cancel programmed activities.
d. absence or failure of access telecommunications networks
e. decisions made by government authorities that might impact the performance of our contractual obligations.
2. About TFS and how to contact us
The Future School LLC is a private American company (United States) with Raleigh, North Carolina – USA as the main place of business, and with agents in Santiago de Chile and Prague, Czech Republic. You can contact us at info@thefutureschool.org
3. Applications
3.1 In reply to an application of participation to any of our programs by a participant “client”, TFS will reply with an “Acceptance Offer”{“AO”}, that may serve as a Contract outlining the provided services described in the program Details. Application and Cost payments will follow the schedules posted on the Application Guidelines. If the application is routed through a Host or Home institution, application procedures (including application deadlines and payment schedules) may be handled by those institutions.
3.2 To complete the AO, the “client” needs to sign and upload required documents (such as passport or driver’s license with a photograph), and follow the schedule of payment as posted on each Program Detail Page.
3.3 Signing the our acceptance offer in relation with one of our programs will start the “Contract” with TFS, also agreeing to your Home Institution is not responsible for paying the program costs, airfares and insurance, excepts for some specific cases of affiliation, where in such cases the Home Institution will provide with a contract annex, regarding their conditions.
3.4 Before accepting our offer referred in paragraphs 3.1 to 3.3, you should read and be entirely satisfied by these Terms and Conditions, otherwise you should contact us to agree any possible change at info@thefutureshool.org
4. TFS Services
4.1 TFS aim to provide the best and most updated experiences on our study programs, working to ensure that our services meet the descriptions promoted our website at program pages and on the brochures in all material respect.
4.2 TFS works to comply the schedule and program details as has been described on the mentioned promotions channels. However, clients must agree that the timing, modes, excursions, instructions, lecturers and instructors may be subject to change due weather or unexpected disablements. TFS will work for provide an equivalent.
4.3 The Future School doesn’t claim intellectual property rights out of the creation of his students on any of the Terms and Programs, in the same way that respect and declare every training material, method or creation demonstrated or exhibit by the Instructors, Lecturers or Locations Hosts, as theirs. TFS claim intellectual property rights over every material related with program descriptions, schedules and purposes, understanding also that there is things that cant be claimed and should be shared such as world issues advocacy, with the condition of always quote the authors.
5. In relation with your Home Institution and TFS as a provider
As you take are part of the contracted programs on the mentioned terms, any requirement from your Home Institution to determine the suitability of your activities and work under our programs, to recognize credit value will be of the client total responsibility, unless there is an partnership or affiliation agreement in which case this information will be previously provided by lead professor or the study abroad advisor. TFS don’t guarantee or representation how the client participation will affect or be considered by your Home Institution, beyond the exchange of information required by the applicant and the home institution.
6. Your responsibilities and obligations as participant {“Client”}
6.1 The client agree to:
a. maintain an immigration status that allow you to be present as its been scheduled
b. attend to the scheduled activities on time and regularly, understanding that not attending for own decision will not be subject to refund in any case, and in some cases may have completion consecuences.
c. comply with our health and safety rules as will be notified in time, including wearing suitable clothing, footwear for practical instructions or excursions.
d. conduct yourself in a courteous manner and refrain to disrespect or offence other students, members of our staff or any person in or around our activities.
6.2 TFS not provide any insurance cover, therefore is your or the client responsibility to take out any insurances you might need for the course of the schedules activities under the contract, including health and accident insurance.
6.3 TFS is not obligated to aid financial or legally in case the client is experiencing legal issues while in the abroad country. In those cases you will need to obtain independent advice at your own expense.
6.4 Circumstances as illness or personal situations do not entitle to refund or program cost reductions.
7. Program Cost payment
7.1 Program Cost are published on the website and finally inform on the Acceptance Offer you will received after your application, are payable in USD.
7.2 The Students applying through a Home Institution must arrange their payments following the Home Institution schedule and procedures.
7.3 Each program, courses and projects listed on our website and official channels, may have their own times and deadlines, in addition to a not-refundable Deposit (Unless the program gets cancelled, as happened at the Summer of 2020 due covid world pandemic).
7.4 The balance of the program cost payment must be paid no later than the payment deadline listed at the program details or acceptance offer. Not paying on time, will not be entitled to start the program, in such cases the Acceptance offer may be rescinded.
7.5 Payments can be made by credit card or bank transfer, as will be instructed on the AO.
7.6 Where a Home Institution in partnership or affiliation is responsible for the payment of your program cost, they are responsible to do so, otherwise you will not be entitled to participate and out AO will be rescinded.
7.7 Certificate of completions and achievement may be issued free of charge to you. On contrary study records and portfolio will be at the exclusive responsibility of the participant, unless a Program through its Lead Professor manage the study records, in those cases it will be explicit under the AO.
8. Age requirements
We accept Applications from anyone aged 18 or over on the starting date of our course. Submitting an application without this requirement will be entitled to cancel the contract. Applicants under 18, can apply with the permission of their parents or legal tutors, depending of the program requirements and pending approval. TFS invites to check the programs, Summer Study Abroad may be available for High School groups under certain conditions to agree between the interested Institution and TFS, when an affiliation doesn’t exist yet. Cultural Study Tours are open to everyone and we encourage to participate with their parents, similar situations can be presented under workshops where the legal tutor can be a companion.
9. Orientation and preparation activities or courses
9.1 Orientation instruction is mandatory, the client must ensure their awareness of every content of the orientation provided as a preparation activity for the contracted program.
9.2 Some preparation instructions may be sampled under Orientation activities, however some complementary courses may be available to the participants but unless the Acceptance Offer include it, this activities will have an additional cost, not being mandatory activities, applicants can ask for group discounts in case they have sign under a Summer Abroad Program or Study Abroad Program.
10. Personal Data Protection
10.1 TFS doesn’t give your Personal Data to any other third party except for booking services included on our scheduled excursions and instructions.
11. Other Terms
11.1 The contract is between you {“the client”} and us. No other person shall have any right to enforce any terms.
